I will be operating several types of trains on this layout, once it has been completed. Obviously the main focus will be on passenger operations. I will be developing a schedule that combines Amtrak and MARC schedules between Washington and Perryville, MD. The freight operations will occur in a manner that should not interfere with regular passenger operations. In the past I was able to come across a copy of the Norfolk Southern Rules for Equipment Operation and Handling. I will be using some of the rules from this document and others that I may come across. In this section of the site you will find any information that will be applied to operating model railroad.
| Locomotives | - This section pertains to the operation and condition of locomotives on the layout. It includes decoder, consisting and other important information |
| Freight | - Freight equipment must meet several strict regulations for operation on the layout. This section includes information on how to handle defective equipment and height restrictions |
| Passenger | - Passenger trains are the primary source of operations on this layout. They also have several restrictions placed on them to ensure that the trains operate properly. This section pertains primarily to handing the equipment. |
| Signals | - This layout will eventually have an operational signal system based on the signals that govern the southern part of the Northeast Corridor. This section covers the applicable aspects and what they mean. It also covers how the switches are operated. |
| Control | - The layout will be controlled using DCC for controlling equipment and a program based on C/MRI for dispatching and control of mainline switches. |
| ZTS Maps | - I will be creating Zone-Track-Spot maps that will adorn the fascia of the modules, and with luck I will be able to develop them from actual ZTS Maps used by Conrail. |
